This confessional album dives into the mysteries of memory and the transient temperament of a young artist's life. Nature, in all of its glorious sunsets, breezes, and shifting constellations, is an active participant in this journey. The music represents a search for peace amid the relentless march of time.
The dogwood tree from my youth blossoms with a voracious and vibrant pink for one week each year and then settles back into its brown and green indifference. While this tree will not stand forever, I can call upon its colors and gentle creaks whenever I close my eyes. It is my hope that you will also see and hear this tree when you press play.
The album artwork, once again crafted by the inimitable Jane Baty, perfectly visualizes the music with its juxtaposition of nature and cityscape. The pink sky and purple leaves are reflected in the colors of the tall buildings. The energy of the bustling city is tempered by the calm, rolling river. Clancy, the old Irish terrier, takes in the music of his companion as the sun begins to set on another day in Astoria Park.
